St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Holiday Ball

Saturday, December 8th, Lincoln students volunteered at the 2007 St. Joseph Mercy Hospital's Annual Holiday Ball. Lincoln choir students adorned themselves in formal attire and exquisite manners to fulfill the coat check booth in the Atrium of EMU's Convocation Center from 5:00pm-1:00am. The professionally designed decor was mezmerizing in a tropical "Casablanca" (Bogart) theme. Tickets sold for this festive affair (at $625 per plate) provided an $800,000 fundraiser for the new Oncology Center in the newly constructed Tower addition to the original hospital. St. Joe representative and former Lincoln Choral Booster, Katie Elliott, made this opportunity possible for us to recoop revenues lost in giving up the hosting of MSVMA's State Solo and Ensemble Festival hosted by Lincoln the past six years. We're told that a donation will be made by St. Joe's to the Lincoln Choral Booster Scholarship fund. Students who met expected obligations for this event will acquire NHS Community service hours. In an email following the event, the students were commended for their and Mrs. Elliott invited LHS Choirs back again next year!

The following students are to be recognized for their efforts:

Michelle Allen, Elizabeth Anderson, Sarah Apple, Kelsey Bouse, Paul Bowling, Taylor Dogan, Allison Lundquist, Ahlon Gavins, Kris Glatter, Katie Haycox, Ricky Hicks, Leslie Holbrook, Malak Ismail, Trish Karbowski, Rick Meurs, Malak Ismail, Amanda Music

The following adults chaperoned

Mrs. Shari Bowling (Pres), Mrs. Pamela Karbowski (Booster), Mrs. Karen Nevins (Dir), Ms. Jacquese Marcum (Student Teacher)

General Fundraising Guidelines

Fundraising occurs throughout the school year and involves students and our boosters. Mrs. Nevins has been responsible for documenting and updating student travel accounts; however, the Boosters support each fundraising project, take part in distribution of goods, and maintain funds accrued from fundraising. While some fundraising profits are specified for student travel accounts and used for choir travel, choir clothing items and such, if a student drops out of the choral program, his/her account is automatically deposited into the scholarship and awards fund. An account can be transferred only to the student's sibling or for parent trip expenses.

This year we already have three fundraisers organized for fall to include a brochure sale with a new company (delivery in October); our 16th annual Holiday Greenery sale, distributed the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving; with a repeat of the Savory Cookie Dough products (delivery in December). Students will want to be talking up these products to family and friends in order to get the most out of their fundraising projects. Due dates and distribution dates will be posted on the choir calendar posted on this website.

If you are a parent with availability during or immediately following the school day and would be interested in assisting Mrs. Nevins with fundraising distribution in October, November, and December, please contact Mrs. Nevins, as distribution of these products takes her away from teaching. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
